SmartScoop Self-Cleaning Litter Box is motion activated so once the cat leaves the litter box, an internal timer will count down for 15 minutes, allowing enough time for the clumping process to take place. The waste unit will then move, raking the clump forward and up into the waste tray. The waste unit will then return to its original position for the next time the cat uses the litter box.

Scooping waste is a chore but when you're a mom-to-be, scooping becomes dangerous. For women who are pregnant, it is highly recommended to not touch the litter box. Cat feces can contain toxoplasmosis, an infection from the Toxoplasma gondii parasite that affects the mother and unborn child. Pregnant women are advised to have someone else maintain the litter box or purchase an automatic litter box.
